Garett Ellingham / Director of Photography

Having started his journey in video creation at 12, Garett has honed his skills to deliver exceptional results. Alongside his video expertise, he has been cultivating his musical abilities and audio engineering for decades, enabling him to craft original soundscapes that elevate the overall production value.

Currently, he is the creative force behind the production of an exciting TV show called BC Outdoor Sport Fishing, where he showcases the exhilarating world of outdoor sports and adventure in British Columbia. Additionally, he actively produces impactful commercials and documentaries including The History of Sportfishing in BC, Prehistoric Survivor, Wild Harvest and West Coast Pincers

Mike Mitchell / Director / Host

Mike Mitchell’s love for fishing started young when he would go on fishing trips with his family to some of British Columbia’s spectacular freshwater lakes. Born and raised in BC, this province fueled his passion for the outdoors. Mike became involved with BC Outdoors Magazine in 2005, becoming Editor in 2007. Three years after that, Mike started the BC Outdoors Sport Fishing TV show and continues today as Host and Executive Producer. Mike created the show to highlight all of the best fresh and saltwater fisheries around BC while educating viewers on how and what to use to be successful during their day out on the water.

Desiree Miller / Producer

Desiree has produced, directed and written for various documentaries, events and projects for OP Media Group and Mountain View Productions. Her background in media and marketing spans over 20 years. Some of her notable works include Abandoned Dreams, Wild Harvest, Prehistoric Survivor,  Hero Lodge, the Great BC Road Tripas well as the BC Outdoors Show.

Brian Chan

It’s safe to say Brian was hooked on fishing at a very young age. Regular weekend and holiday salmon fishing trips with his dad are still very fond memories. Brian’s passion for fishing led to an educational path that would allow a lifetime working with fish. A Fish, Wildlife & Recreation technical diploma and a BSc in freshwater ecology provided the background for a 30 year career in managing recreational freshwater fisheries for the province of BC. It truly was the best job in the world!

His growing interest in fly fishing lakes led to a secondary career that started with writing magazine articles and making presentations to fly fishing clubs to teaching weekend seminars. Brian has written extensively for such magazines as Fly Fusion, Fly Fisherman, Fly Rod & Reel and Fly Fishing & Tying Journal. He has also authored or co-authored several books on fly fishing and fly tying and produced several instructional videos. For the past 30 years Brian has made many appearances on TV fishing shows including BC Outdoors Sport Fishing, Sport Fishing on the Fly, West Coast Sporting Journal and The New Fly Fisher

Brian has been tying flies since 11 years of age. His fascination with aquatic entomology has certainly played a role in the flies that he has developed for fishing stillwaters. In 2014 Brian was award a lifetime achievement award by Fly Tyer Magazine.

Phil Rowley

Phil has been fly fishing for over 35 years. His love of fly fishing has taken him across North America pursuing trout, salmon, and numerous other species on the fly. But Phil is probably best known for his stillwater exploits.

A former commercial fly tyer, Phil has written for almost every major fly fishing publication in North America. He has authored four best-selling books and numerous feature articles and two regular columns. In 2014, Phil was the proud recipient of a Life Time Achievement Award from Fly Tyer magazine and the

2017 the Jean-Guy Cote award for his contribution to Canadian fly tying.

In addition to his writing, Phil has five instructional DVD’s. In 2007, Phil was a member of the gold medal winning team at the Canadian Fly Fishing championships.

When he isn’t on the water Phil travels North America performing at outdoor shows, providing seminars, speaking to fly clubs and conducting fly-fishing schools. Phil also provides instructional stillwater guiding on the lakes located near his Edmonton area home.

Phil has appeared on a number of T.V. shows and is currently a co-host with The New Fly Fisher.

Brian Babcock

Brian Babcock is a longtime contributor to British Columbia’s fly fishing community and the founder of Babcock Fly & Tackle, a respected Lower Mainland shop that served anglers for nearly two decades. Alongside building a trusted retail hub, he developed custom “Babcock rods,” crafted in small batches for local stillwater and coastal conditions, earning a reputation for practical, performance-driven design. His work reflects a grassroots era of BC fly fishing, where innovation, gear, and knowledge were shaped within tight-knit angling communities. Though now largely out of the public spotlight, his influence remains part of the region’s fly fishing legacy.

Kathy Ruddick

Kathy Ruddick is a respected figure in British Columbia’s fly fishing community and the longtime owner of Ruddick’s Fly Shop. Through her work, she built a trusted hub for anglers, offering knowledge, gear, and guidance rooted in firsthand experience on BC waters. Beyond retail, she has been a strong advocate for growing the sport—particularly among women—helping create a more inclusive and welcoming fly fishing culture. Known for her hands-on approach, Ruddick has mentored and educated countless anglers, sharing skills and confidence with those new to the sport. Her influence reflects the community-driven spirit that continues to shape stillwater fly fishing in BC
